Doggy Day School

Have your dog trained for you whilst you are at work or enjoying a day to yourself!

We will be running half days every Monday and Full days every Tuesday and Thursday.

On the full day we will be picking your dog up between 9am and 9:45am followed by 2 hours training in a public location (these locations will regularly change), the dogs will be rotated between 2 trainers and each dog will get 2 training sessions in the public location. They will then get q break/nap time while we travel to our secure training field or another public location followed by 2 more hours of training. Drop off will between 2:30pm and 3:30pm

For the half days, we will be picking up between 9am and 9:45am and then they will be taken to a public location to be trained throughout the 2 hours and then will be dropped off home between 12pm and 1pm.

You will receive a link to a google drive folder where we will upload videos and pictures of your dog at day school. Some of these videos will even include us explaining the training with your own dog so you can then practice yourselves. You will also get access to our training resource hub!

This is the catchment area we cover. The Yellow marks the area we will be covering on a Monday for the half day. The red is the area we will expand to during the full days on a Tuesday and Thursday. If you are just outside these areas please get in touch before booking as we may be able to cater for you but if not we will have a pick up and drop off option.

Please find below answers to questions you are bound to have! But if you have any more please feel free to email us at dogtraining@qualitycanines.co.uk and we will be happy to help!

  • Description text Here are the dimensions of the travel crates:

    Small/Medium - 45cm high x 51cm wide x 90cm depth

    Large - 70cm high x 57cm wide x 90cm depth

X-Large - 1.1m high x 75cm wide x 1.1m depth (we do have an additional van that is 94cm high x 1.2m wide for dogs that are of a stocky build and need more room for turning around).

Measure your dog if you are unsure.

The crate should ideally be twice as wide as your dog’s shoulders so they can turn around and just above your dogs’s relaxed head height.

Please choose the smallest crate your dog will fit in but if for example you have a small breed and all the small spaces have already been booked out for that day then you can pick a larger crate but please don’t do this if there is still small spaces available as a large dog can’t fit in a small crate!

  • All dogs must have had at least one training session with myself or India so we have met your dog and the dogs have met us! If your dog is unsure of people we will need to ensure your dog has recently see us or has had more than one session to help us build a relationship up with your dog prior to them attending day school.

We are offering mini half an hour training meet and greet sessions for anyone that hasn’t worked with us previously but would like their dog to attend day school. This session will allow you to discuss what training you would like your dog to receive and for us to get to know your dog whilst they are relaxed with yourselves. These will be £20 but you will need to bring your dog to our training field in Keelby. If this isn’t possible you will need to book an hours 1-1 training session so we can come out to your home to meet them.

If they are aggressive towards other dogs or people they must have had a full behaviour assessment or behaviour 1-1s with Natalie before they can attend Day School. If you are unsure if your dog can attend, please ask before booking on.

  • There will be up to 6 dogs that attend each day and 2 trainers, the dogs will be worked in pairs so we have a natural distraction of another dog for their training plan.

  • This is up to you! For each dog it will be different depending on what they need and you want us to focus on. Half the day will be spent in a public place and the other half at our secure training field so we can adapt each dog’s training plan accordingly. Some examples of what we can work on- Recall, loose lead walking, settle training (in a public place and around other dogs), confidence building, general obedience, reactivity training etc- the list goes on!

  • Pick up will be approx 9am - 9:45am followed by 2 hours training in a public location (these locations will regularly change), the dogs will be rotated between 2 trainers and each dog will get 2 training sessions in the public location. They will then get break/nap time while we travel to our secure training field or another public location followed by 2 more hours of training. Drop off will be approx. 2:30 and 3:30pm

  • While we train at a secure location dogs will stay in the van whilst it’s not their turn- our training van is fully kitted out with secure crates that the dogs CANNOT see each other through, we will be utilising plenty of various enrichment so they are kept occupied , this will only be for a maximum of 40 minutes at a time. When at our secure training location we will have secure area’s at our training field with beds, enrichment/chews and everything they need - although they will still actively be training as they will be able to see the other dogs (if they can cope with this) and we’ll be helping them work on their settle training around other dogs. We can put visual barriers up if they are unable to cope with this to begin with.

  • If that’s what you’d like- yes! This will be very dependent on the dog, if your dog needs to learn to greet others politely and you want us to work on their social skills with other dogs then this is what we will do. However, if your dog is working on reactivity or confidence building around other dogs then they will be worked around other dogs but will not greet them until they are comfortable and ready to do so.

  • In the event it’s hot weather (between 21 and 26) we will ensure the public place training is done in a heavily wooded/cool area so we can ensure both the van and the dogs being worked stay cool, we are also creating a set up at our secure field where each dog will have its own area of shade and we will have a paddling pool for them to have a dip in. However, if temperatures are set to rise over 26 degrees we may need to either cut the day short, stay at the wooded area or worse case scenario cancel for that day but we would offer to pop in and train at your home if you were relying on us to care for your dog. For other extreme weathers such as rain/wind we will train in indoor public areas such as cafe’s and dog friendly shops etc. We will change the structure of the day as needed to ensure all dogs stay safe and happy, if the weather is too extreme (very low temperatures and heavy snow) we may cancel or shorten the training days but this will be a last resort and you will have plenty of notice.

  • No! You do not have to commit to every week, we are happy for you to utilise day school on an ad-hoc basis.

  • No. If you happy to you can either leave us a key some place safe (at your own risk) so we can let ourselves in or you can provide us with a spare key. If you leave us a key, you can let us know if you’d like us to take this with us during the day so its not left in a hiding place all day. But you must let us know this otherwise we will presume you’d like us to put it back in its hiding place for when we return.

  • Absolutely! You will be given your own google drive folder where we will upload pictures and videos of what your dogs have been doing and their training each day. You will access this via a link. We will also add notes and handouts to support you with their training.

  • We advise you leave out there usual walking attire (collar, harness, lead etc) and please make sure they have a lawful identification tag on their equipment.

Please also leave out any drying coats or cooling coats you may have for them.

Also any food you’d like them feeding and some training treats you know they like.

We will provide them with some natural treats and enrichment when they are relaxing in-between training sessions but if you’d prefer them to have things you know they like then please leave these for us to bring.

Abit like packing up a kids school bag for their day at school. Clothes for all weathers and snacks!

  • Unlike most daycare’s having dogs off-lead mixing all the time is not how we will run things however we may mix certain dogs off lead together if it is beneficial for their training- for example if your training goal is recall around other dogs or to play politely. This will depend on the dogs and we will only mix off lead if the dogs are comfortable and ready for that stage of training.

  • We require 72 hours notice of any cancellation for you to be entitled to a refund minus a £5 admin charge (to cover the booking system fees). For last minute cancellations for unexpected circumstances (dog comes into season or your dog is poorly) we will do our best to fill your space. If we do you will then remain in credit so you can use your session at a later date.

  • No! We can cater from young puppies stage right up to senior dogs, as all training is completely unique to each dog we can easily adapt things to ensure dogs of any age can join.

  • Yes! We are more than happy to offer this, please contact us directly if you’d like to drop off and pick up and we’d be happy to arrange this for you. This may be subject to a travel charge depending on how far away you live.

  • Yes or a titre test. Kennel cough vaccine isn’t required

  • Absolutely! Because we aren’t mixing the dogs off lead we can cater for dogs that haven’t been neutered.

  • Unfortunately we can’t accept bitches in season due to us training out in public locations. Please wait a week after she has stopped bleeding before booking her back in

  • We will call you immediately and follow your advice on what you’d like us to do. We will happily bring your dog home early if your dog is unwell or not enjoying themselves. If we can’t get hold of you or your emergency contact and we feel your vet needs to see a vet we will transport your dog to your vet.

  • To run this new service we will need 2 trainers available. If either one of us is away on holiday we will half the amount the dogs we take and will offer a half day to ensure we can still continue to run the service. This will be labeled as One Trainer on the booking system. During this time, we will cover the whole catchment area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will do our very best to not take holidays at the same time as one another. However, if we do we will try provide you with plenty of notice as the service won't run during these times (for example over the Christmas period)

  • Yes! Natalie and India will be running the dayschool service together so it will be consistent for the dogs and we can get to know them well.
